We’ve been celebrating the first anniversary of Lisa’s 30th birthday this weekend (it was yesterday, 30 June).
First, on Friday night, we went for dinner and a show. We went to see The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged). It’s not a new show, it was in Toronto a number of years back, but we never managed to go see it. But I must say, it was one of the funniest shows I’ve ever seen. Easily on par with Avenue Q and MacHomer in terms of how much pain from laughter I was in by the end of it.
Then, yesterday, on her birthday, the weather was so crappy that we couldn’t really go out to do anything – the only thing we did was hit Portobello Road for the market to acquire sufficient munchies for the party we had last night.
We had, in the end, about 20 people over (the most we’ve crammed into our reception at one time), for what this time didn’t even start out as the wine-tasting evening that was planned. It was a wine-drinking evening right from the start. Good snacks, great people and easily more than a bottle of wine each. Good times.
Today is now Canada Day. A bunch of people are thinking of going to Primrose Hill for a picnic today, if the weather holds out (it’s grey, but believe it or not, dry) so we’re thinking of heading up there. Even if it does rain, we head to the pub instead. And what a wonderful experience that will be….no more smoking in England as of today!
Clay and Wendi arrive tomorrow from Florida (through NYC with Amir) and we head to NYC on Thursday. It’s going to continue to be a great week!
OMG, no smoking!! It’s, as you know, amazing to go to a bar or club or whatever and not suffocate and come home smelling disgusting. Congrats, London, for joining the civilized world.
Happy Canada Day, and happy birthday, Lisa!
